If you are looking for a great way to get that summer feeling and are having friends and family coming for a BBQ, why not surprise them with this easy and fun aperitif.
Ingredients
- 70cl bottle of any good gin
- 12 to 16 elderflower heads
- 5 tablespoons of caster sugar
- Preserving jar & bottle
- Sieve & funnel
Instructions
Add the flowers, sugar and gin to a clean preserving jar and stir. Tuck all the flowers down under the top level of the gin, seal the jar and set aside.
Leave for about 7 days until the gin has turned into a rich clear honey colour… Finally, strain the gin through a sieve into a jug and transfer into a sterilised clean bottle. It’s now ready for drinking with your favourite cold tonic & plenty of ice and slice of lemon or lime and a few fresh mint leaves.
